  • Provide and improve our services
  • Connect you with relevant sports communities
  • Personalize your experience and recommendations
  • Send notifications about events and activities
  • Ensure platform safety and prevent abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Data Security

  • Secure data centers and infrastructure

6. Children's Privacy

Sports Loop is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

8. Data Retention, Deletion and Export

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations.

8.1 Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from More › Account & Security › Delete account in the app. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile is permanently removed. Your profile fields, avatar, photos you uploaded, and account credentials are deleted from our database and storage.
  • Your private state is permanently removed. Notifications, achievements, streaks, bookmarks, sport passport, and any other personal records held against your account are deleted.
  • Your direct activity is permanently removed. Event responses (RSVPs), waitlist entries, article likes, poll votes and player-of-the-match votes are deleted, and any aggregate counters they fed into are corrected so the totals stay accurate for other members.
  • Your community memberships are permanently removed. You are removed from every community you had joined, and each community's member count is decremented accordingly.
  • Your contributions to communities are anonymised, not deleted. Articles, comments, announcements, events you organised, communities you founded, tags you proposed, and reports you filed remain on the platform — but your name, photo and handle are replaced with “Deleted User” so that conversations and shared content stay coherent for other members. Your identity is no longer linked to that content.
  • Moderation audit logs are retained. Records of administrative actions you took or were the subject of in your communities are retained under our legitimate-interest basis (community moderation accountability), but display only as “Deleted User” — your identity is severed even from those records.
  • Your sign-in credentials are permanently removed. Your Firebase Authentication account is deleted and cannot be recovered.

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to keep your account but remove personal information, use More › Data & Storage › Delete my personal data instead, which clears your profile fields without removing your account.

8.2 Data Export (UK GDPR Article 15)

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time from More › Data & Storage › Export my data in the app. We generate a JSON file covering your profile, sign-in methods, community memberships, event responses, articles you authored, comments and engagement, your notifications, achievements, streaks, bookmarks, audit-log entries and any reports you filed. The file is provided over a private download link valid for 7 days. The export is presented in a user-readable form — it does not expose internal system identifiers or technical schema details.

9. Third-Party Services

Our app may contain links to third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
